i've been gone but i didnt forget to knit

I have photographic proof too!  I've been working on my Regia socks and now that I've gotten the foot done, I decided last night that I should knit toe socks.  I've never done it before and I can't find any patterns online for them, but I figure that the principals of knitting gloves would probably apply and so I've been making sure to take good notes and I go so that if it works out, I'll have what I need to make the mate.  I've also been working on the Millicent socks by Cookie A and I've finally made it to the foot.  It seems like it's just flying now that I've gotten past the miles of straight ribbing.  I don't know that I was thinking when I tackled this one first.  I love it and it's beautiful, but i hate knitting ribbed socks!  I love the look of ribbed garments but not making them.  They might as well be knit in seed stitch!  And I finally hit the lace portion of the Icarus shawl but started to run out of yarn so I went to my LYS to pick up another ball of Misty Lace Alpaca only to find that she was having a 25% off sale on every yarn in the store.  So I also got a skein of Lambs Pride chunky in oatmeal for a pair of convertible mitts for my friend Jana, and a skein of Bearfoot in Sun River, which is the most beautiful color I've ever seen and I'm obsessed with it!  It might push Ruby River out the door as far a my favorite colorway goes.  And after my third unsuccessful trip to the DMV to transfer my registration over to my grandfather-in-law's car, I needed the yarn therapy.
And if this darn camera would ever down load the photos, you'd be looking at the stuff right now!!

Update: photos are done!Pb280013_2

Change of plans.

Okay, so the falling leaves sock is off the needles after about 4 repeats of the pattern.  I liked the way the colors played with the pattern, but I didn't like the ladder to stitches that ran between the repeats and there was nothing that I could really do about it.  When the sock was stretched, it looked like a ladder of loose stitches and when it was relaxed, it looked like puckered stitches.  So I decided to pull it out in favor of knitting a pair of Monkeys.  However, I need my 2.5mm needles and they are in use on a different Cookie pattern so I have to finished that sock before I can start on the Monkeys.  I did however, pick up my striped pair of Regia socks and manage to turn the heel while at work so now I seem to be full steam ahead again on those.  I didn't realize how much time I sit at my cube waiting for someone to answer their phone, or to leave them a message, but I knit a few stitches for every call while I had to wait and the next think I knew, I had almost turned the heel on the sock.  And yes, I'm still working on the Icarus shawl but I think I'm going to have to go pick up another skein of yarn to finish it off.  I'll just knit until I run out.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Guess who learned to use the Magic Loop!

That's right!  Yours truly.  I'm working on the Falling leaves socks from knitty in Mountain Colors Bearfoot in Meadow.  I wanted something different from what I usually go for in a colorway and my husband suggested it.  I think he just really wanted to get out of the yarn shop so he just flipped a mental coin, but that's okay because it worked out just fine.  I really  like the colors and how well they play in this pattern.  So I pulled up the old "internet" and finally learned how to Magic Loop.  I'm converted, if for no other reason than it's not as fiddly and i can have 2 pairs of socks on the needles at a time now!

I'm also finally in the lace portion of the Icarus shawl for my friend Cristina and I hope to have it finished for her first day back from her honey moon on Tuesday, but now that I seem to be battling a head cold, I don't know that will be working out.

Gotta head out now.
